About the AP English Language Exam

The AP English Language and Composition exam is one of the most popular AP exams, testing students' ability to read and analyze rhetoric and write effective arguments. The exam is divided into two sections: Multiple Choice (MCQ) and Free Response (FRQ).

FRQ Essay Types

The three free-response essays each test a different skill. The Synthesis essay asks you to combine multiple sources into a coherent argument.
