What Is a Parlay Bet?

A parlay combines two or more individual bets (legs) into a single wager. All legs must win for the parlay to pay out. The odds multiply together, creating potentially large payouts — but the more legs, the lower the probability of winning.

Converting American Odds to Decimal

Positive American (e.g. +150): Decimal = (odds / 100) + 1 = 2.50 Negative American (e.g. -110): Decimal = (100 / |odds|) + 1 = 1.909 Parlay multiplier = product of all decimal odds Payout = Wager × Parlay multiplier Profit = Payout − Wager Implied Probability = 1 / Parlay multiplier × 100

Frequently Asked Questions

How many legs should a parlay have?+
Most experienced bettors keep parlays to 2–4 legs. While more legs increase potential payouts, the probability of winning drops dramatically with each additional leg. A 4-leg parlay where each leg has 50% win probability only has a 6.25% chance of winning (0.5^4).
What does -110 mean in American odds?+
-110 means you must wager $110 to win $100 profit. Negative American odds always indicate the favorite. The "vig" or sportsbook margin is built into the odds — standard -110 on both sides of a game implies a ~4.5% house edge.
What does +150 mean?+
+150 means a $100 wager wins $150 profit (total payout $250). Positive American odds always indicate the underdog. Higher positive numbers mean bigger potential payouts but lower implied win probability.
How do you calculate a parlay payout?+
Convert each leg to decimal odds, multiply all together for the parlay multiplier, then multiply by your wager. Example: two -110 legs = 1.909 × 1.909 = 3.645 multiplier. A $100 wager pays $364.50 total ($264.50 profit).
What is implied probability in a parlay?+
Implied probability is 1 ÷ combined decimal odds × 100. It shows the break-even win rate you need long-term. A 3-leg parlay of -110 favorites has only a ~12.5% implied win probability — meaning you need to win 1 in 8 times just to break even.
What is a same-game parlay?+
A same-game parlay (SGP) combines multiple bets from the same game — like moneyline + spread + total. Because the legs are correlated, sportsbooks adjust the odds (usually lower than a standard parlay). Use our calculator to compare SGP odds against standard parlay odds.
Are parlays good bets?+
Parlays have a much higher house edge than single-game bets. A standard 2-leg -110/-110 parlay pays +260 but the fair value is +305 — the sportsbook keeps a ~10% edge. They're high-variance entertainment bets, not long-term value plays. Bet responsibly.
